June 2023 Mintlayer Development Update
June 1, 2023

Welcome back Mintlayers!

June has been a busy month for the development team. All of the major testnet components are now complete, it’s available on Mintlayer’s repository and we have been running it internally since early June.

This is a major milestone, and we’d like to thank our team for all the hard work.

We want as many users for our incentivized testnet as possible so we can replicate real world conditions closely, and we want to onboard as many validators as we can before mainnet is launched.

To make sure that everyone has an equal opportunity for this, we are working on a GUI so users with less technical experience will have the same opportunity as developers to participate in the testnet.

We also need to build an apparatus to get TML tokens to users. We expect that the public testnet will be released on July 31, so stay tuned to the Mintlayer Telegram announcements channel and our Twitter for announcements.

Web and Mobile Development

We have completed work on entropy generation. It is fully tested and ready to go. We will release it soon.

The team has finished a lot of work on integrating Mintlayer into the Mojito wallets this month. This is a crucial piece of the puzzle for mainnet.

Mintlayer Core Development

We have an internal testnet up and running and people have been using it for a couple of weeks. The user interface is basic, we are working on making it more user friendly before introducing the public testnet to Mintlayer users.

The team has completed lots of work on the command line wallet and the GUI interface for the testnet this month. Since there will be a substantial amount of rewards available for users that help with the testnet we want to make it as user friendly as possible.

We have continued work on our proof-of-stake consensus mechanism.

We have completed more work on the mempool. This important component is like a waiting room for queued and pending transactions. Transactions are only settled after they have been verified in the mempool.

The team has been doing a substantial amount of testing this month since the testnet is now available. We have completed a lot of small cleanups and bug fixes all over the codebase.

We would like to invite all of you to join us on Discord, and take part in our Telegram community so you don’t miss upcoming testnet announcements. As always, Mintlayer is open source and you can confirm our progress on the Mintlayer’s repository.
