January 2026 Mintlayer Development Update
January 1, 2026

January was about upgrading the network as we successfully completed the mainnet hard fork, kept services stable, and focused on maintenance across wallets and tooling. This sets a stable baseline for new feature work rolling out in the weeks ahead.

Core Node

The mainnet hard fork executed successfully on January 20–21, improving order handling, security, and atomic swap order flow. This upgrade also sets the foundation for upcoming order-based functionality and smoother swap-related operations for RioSwap and across the stack. If you operate a node and have not yet updated, please move to v1.2.0 to remain compatible.

RioSwap

RioSwap is moving closer to production. Development of the first production-ready model is now almost complete, and we are actively preparing to integrate external providers. The next step is integrating external market makers and liquidity providers required for a smooth release, with more details and major updates to be shared as we progress.

Mojito Wallet

January’s efforts centered on speed, stability, and polish to improve the overall wallet experience. We shipped optimizations, bug fixes, and refactoring to improve performance and stability across the browser extension and mobile app.

Brief reminders

  • Node operators: if you missed the window, please update to v1.2.0 now to ensure uninterrupted operation.
  • ERC-20 ML migration: the final deadline is April 30. If your ML is on an exchange or in Mojito on mainnet, no action is needed. If you still hold ERC-20 ML, migrate using the official portal.

Wrapping up

This month focused on completing the network upgrade and tightening reliability across the stack, while also moving RioSwap closer to production readiness. With the fork complete, wallets tuned, and RioSwap progressing, we are set to resume feature work in February.
